St.Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church was established in the year of 1983. In August 1983 with the consent of the late Archbishop H. E Mor Athanasius Y. Samuel of the North American Archdiocese, St.Mary's Syrian Orthodox church was established. Late H. G. Thomas Mor Dionysius (H. B Baselios Thomas1, Catholicose of the East) assisted by very Rev Fr. Jos Thomas, conducted the first Holy Qurbana of this new Parish.

From 1987 - 1994, Fr. Thomas Varghese Kanneth served as the first resident Vicar of the Church

The inaugural service of the new parish was conducted by Rev. Fr. Estephanos Ramban of the St. Barsaumo Syriac Orthodox Church. Our first Church Constitution was adopted in 1989 under "St. Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church of Canada". We also became a Revenue Canada Registered Charity in 1991 and an Ontario Charitable Corporation in 2002.

Between 1994 and 1996, priests from the United States conducted
services once or twice per month.

In 1996/ 1997, Rev Fr. V.V Paulose served as the
resident Vicar. Fr. Paulose, with the first sizable donation and encouragement of
Mr. Jacob Kuzhikattil initiated the idea of having our own Parish building.

Mr. Jacob Kuzhikkattil initiated the idea of having our own Parish building with a considerable donation and encouragement. With God's leading, this was realized with the aid of the growing congregation and other well wishers when the present church was bought on Kenmuir Avenue, Mississauga on March 6th, 1998. The inaugural service in the new Parish Building was conducted by Rev. Fr. Estephanos (Ramban)

Very Rev. Fr. Jos Thomas from Buffalo was appointed as the Vicar of this Parish on or about 4th April 1998, who continued to serve this Church until June 30th 2003. Fr. Joy John from
USA was then appointed as our new Vicar effective July 1, 2003.

Fr. Ephraim from the Middle Eastern Syrian Church had also conducted the services when Fr. Joy was not available

When Fr. Joy was not available. Fr. James Scaria (Now H.G. Mathew Mor Aphrem)
was appointed as Vicar in 2004, but decided to go back to India in 2005

Fr. Prince Mookkanottil was then appointed in 2005 until May 2007

Kandanad Diocese Bishop Mathews Mor Ivanious visited our Church. From
May 2007 the services were conducted by various visiting Priests. Fr. Cheriyan
Kooliyattu was appointed in October 2007and continued until May 2011.

Silver Jubilee in August 2008 with H. G Joseph Mor Gregorios as
the Chief Celebrant. It is also the only Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church
in Canada under the St. Mary’s Name.

The church was outgrowing its current capacity and was looking for a bigger facility for the growing congregation. In 2018, a suitable place was found at 2521 Tedlo Street, Mississauga.
The property was closed on February 18th and the congregation was moved to the basement of the building .
